Care beyond
the clinic.
Mecco is part of Dar es Salaam, not apart from it. We give our time and expertise to animal health and welfare work across the community.
Our community work
Animal welfare is a shared responsibility.
Clinical work treats the animals who come to us. Community work prevents the suffering that never needs to happen — through vaccination, education and collaboration.
From rabies campaigns to classroom visits, our team contributes wherever it can make a lasting difference to animal welfare in Tanzania.
What we do
Our welfare activities.
Each activity supports a different part of the same goal: healthier animals and kinder communities.
Rabies campaigns
Supporting rabies awareness and vaccination, because protecting dogs protects families and whole neighbourhoods.
School education
Teaching children about animal welfare, bite prevention and responsible pet ownership — compassion starts young.
Community vaccination
Working to make preventive care more accessible so fewer animals suffer from preventable disease.
Animal welfare activities
Supporting rescue, treatment and rehoming efforts for animals in need across the city.
Collaboration
Partnering with animal welfare organisations to share resources, knowledge and reach.
Mecco Animal Rescue (MARE)
A separate, complementary mission.
Mecco Veterinary Clinic provides veterinary care. Rescue and rehoming work is carried out by Mecco Animal Rescue (MARE), a related but separate organisation. You can support MARE directly, or ask us at the clinic how the two work together to help animals in need.
