Home Veterinary Visits

Some pets find travel frightening, some families cannot easily get to the clinic, and sometimes the most comfortable place for an examination is your own home. Our home visits bring veterinary care to your door where circumstances allow.

What to expect

Care in familiar surroundings

For many animals, the car journey and the unfamiliar smells of a clinic are more distressing than the examination itself. For owners who are elderly, unwell, without transport, or managing several animals at once, getting to us can be genuinely difficult. Home visits exist for exactly these situations.

Seeing your pet in their own environment also tells us things a clinic cannot — how they move on their own floor, where they sleep, how they behave around the household — which can be useful in its own right.

How home visits work

1

Request a visit

Call or message us with your location and what your pet needs, so we can judge whether a home visit is the right choice.

2

We confirm availability

Our team checks the schedule and agrees a time that works for both of us, along with an explanation of the visit fee.

3

We travel to you

A veterinary team arrives with the equipment needed for the visit, including what is required for the examination and any treatment we expect to give.

4

Examination and treatment

Your pet is examined in familiar surroundings and treated on the spot wherever possible, without the stress of a journey.

5

Follow-up

If further care, imaging, surgery or laboratory work is needed, we arrange a clinic visit or a return home visit and explain why.

Home visits suit pets and families who

  • Have anxious or nervous animals who hate the car
  • Are elderly, unwell or have limited mobility
  • Have several pets to be seen at once
  • Need end-of-life or palliative care in the comfort of home
  • Live with a pet that cannot easily be transported safely

What we can and cannot bring with us

We can perform most examinations, give vaccinations, take many samples and provide a range of treatments at home. What we cannot bring is the full clinic: imaging, surgery, hospitalisation and some laboratory work require equipment and facilities that stay at Mecco. If your pet needs those, we will explain and help you arrange a clinic visit or referral.

We will also ask you to prepare a quiet, well-lit space and, for cats, somewhere they cannot hide, so the examination can be done calmly and safely. If your pet is difficult to handle, please warn us in advance — it helps us plan and keeps everyone safe.

Follow-up and honest limits

After a home visit you receive the same clear guidance as at the clinic — what we found, what was done and what to watch for. For ongoing cases we keep notes so a return visit builds on the last.

Home visits are provided by appointment, subject to availability, and limited to areas we can reasonably reach. Please contact us to confirm whether we can visit your location, and what the visit will cost, before relying on the service. We would rather be upfront about our reach than leave you waiting.
