Hospitalization

Some patients need more than a consultation. Our hospitalization service provides close monitoring, medication and nursing care in a calm, clean environment, with clear communication to you throughout.

What to expect

When a pet needs to stay

Hospitalization is recommended when a patient needs treatment or observation that cannot be safely provided at home. This may be after surgery, during a severe illness, while receiving intravenous fluids, when medication must be given frequently, or simply when your pet is not well enough to be left alone.

We never keep a pet in hospital for convenience. If your animal can be cared for at home, we would rather send them home with clear instructions. A stay is recommended only when being with us genuinely gives them a better chance.

What hospitalization includes

  • Regular monitoring of vital signs, hydration and comfort
  • Medication, fluids and supportive treatment as prescribed
  • Nursing care, feeding support and clean, warm bedding
  • Pain assessment and management throughout the stay
  • Daily communication with you about your pet’s progress
  • Careful handover, written instructions and follow-up once your pet goes home

A day in hospital

1

Admission

We examine your pet, agree the treatment plan and estimated costs with you, and settle them into a clean, quiet space suited to their size and condition.

2

Treatment rounds

Medication, fluids and other treatments are given on schedule through the day. Cats and dogs are housed apart to reduce stress and noise.

3

Monitoring

Vital signs and comfort are checked regularly and recorded, so we can spot changes early rather than reacting late.

4

Feeding and comfort

Where they are able, patients are offered food and water, kept warm and clean, and given quiet attention. Reluctant eaters are encouraged patiently rather than forced.

5

Communication and discharge

We update you as agreed, and when your pet is ready to leave we explain their medication, care and review plan in full.

Keeping your pet comfortable and safe

Illness is frightening for animals, who cannot understand why they are away from home. We reduce stress by keeping the environment quiet, handling patients gently and predictably, and giving them as much routine as their condition allows. Owners are welcome to visit when it helps, where their presence does not upset the patient.

Hygiene matters, particularly for infectious patients. We separate animals where necessary and follow cleaning routines to protect every pet in our care.

Partnership, aftercare and honest limits

Having a pet in hospital can be stressful for the whole family. We keep you informed, answer your questions and involve you in decisions throughout the stay. Photos and progress updates help, too — just ask and we will keep you close to your pet while they recover.

At discharge, you receive written instructions covering medication, feeding, activity and warning signs to watch for, plus a review appointment where needed. If your pet’s condition needs round-the-clock intensive care or a specialist facility we do not have, we will tell you honestly and help arrange transfer rather than keep them somewhere that cannot meet their needs.
